Hayden our 7mo old disabled incontinent kitten

"Hi my name is Hayden and I am a 7 mos old special needs kitten that needs a forever home as soon as possible. An injury left me with very weak back legs. I can get around the house, but I can not climb stairs. I need an owner who can be very patient and understanding, as I am incontinent in both my bowel and bladder. However, Kitty Connection is confident that the right household could find a way to manage it. Kitty Connection is running a fundraiser for me to raise money to get an MRI so the doctors can see if there is anything they can do to help me."

When I saw this precious boy, my comment on the post was: (and I shared him to my FB page, as I do for so many of the cats I see on Kitty Connection) "Absolutely can be done! When I was younger, my mom found a cat that had been hit by a car and had no use of the bottom part of his body. She put a diaper on him, but she also taught him how to walk again. With lots of patience and special creative things she used, Disco walked and used the kitty box eventually. He lived a very long successful life. She named him Disco because they were coming home from the disco dancing when she found him."

(Little did I realize that within days we would make the decision to take this boy home.)

"Hi! My name is Hayden and I am a very special kitten! A few months ago, I badly injured myself. At first, no one could tell I was hurt because I am very strong, but I could only hide my symptoms for so long. My back legs are incredibly weak, but not paralyzed! I used to use the litter box, but as my bowel and bladder control has gotten weaker it has been increasingly difficult to use the box. Other than that, I am very healthy and strong! I love to play and eat food! Most of all I love to be held and be snuggled. Please consider donating if you are able so the vets can help me to regain my strength!"

I shared his GoFundMe link posted from Kitty Connection on my FB. Please donate any amount you can.

I posted to FB ** WE HAVE DECIDED TO PERMANENTLY FOSTER Hayden, this special needs kitty from Kitty Connection!

"I was picked up and taken to my new home to meet my 3 cat brothers, my 1 cat sister and my 1 dog brother."
Since Hayden is incontinent, he requires help ("expressing") to empty his bladder and bowels throughout the day; to lessen accidents. He has a hearty appettite and so much spunk and spirit! He is determined to be a typical cat following the lead of our dog and 4 cats. I am confident with the right supports (the harness, mobility booties I've ordered) the right tests to diagnose (MRI and Spinal Tap), the right Physical Therapy (provided by me) and lots of love and patience, he will live a long happy life. He is such a special boy and everyone loves him. It's certainly a labor of love.

December 6, 2020 - day 2 in my new home.
"My new mom and dad are really creative for my mobility issues. They have put down some carpet runners, some rubber floor mats that fit like a puzzle and my mom gave me her Yoga mat. This helps me get traction but my legs still give out and I drift like a race car on the floor. I need to build up my strength to walk better on my own.

A little about my family - All my brothers and sisters at my new home are rescues:
Even though this family had 4 cats and 1 dog already, they had enough love for one more!

Ariel is the only girl and a bit of a snob keeping at a distance, but I will get her to warm up to me because no one can resist how cute I am!"
Swizzle is afraid of his own fur, but he is not afraid of me, he is my new best friend!
Chunkie is the shyest of them all, but even he has come up to me a few times already!
Bradley is the only dog and he travelled from down south. He let me steal his treat today that his dad threw to him.

This is me and Kitten my oldest brother. He let me steal his bed when he got up!"
